Experimenting with Patterned Ply
Finding ways to make use of other waste.
The flogger in action. 10/10 recommend!
This beautiful flogger was crafted with lots of care and intentional design. Making use of the plywood end grain, this piece was turned on a wood lathe and dyed with fiber reactive dyes before being given the best falls that we could find in the leather scrap pile.
We’re trying to make a product that we can manufacture quickly, so we can up-cycle as much waste as possible, but nothing about waste is user friendly.
Specifically, using scraps from a museum exhibit manufacturer gets extremely difficult, as each exhibit tends to be made of different materials in different colors. This design shows a lot of promise as it can hopefully be made out of several different kinds of plywood scraps, making it easy to repurpose whatever waste is generated.
